Why We Are Matching Funds for the 280 Pedestrian Bridge
We are the closest we have ever been to securing our pedestrian bridge!
Jennifer Andress and Peter Wright, our Ward 5 City Council reps, have been hard at work obtaining agreements from the involved municipalities and securing local funding to be matched by ALDOT. As you know, strong community support is an important part of this process to underscore our neighborhood's desire for this very beneficial project -- which will improve safety, walkability, and connectedness for all of us. We truly believe that this bridge will change the way our residents move within our city. This bridge, the crosswalk to Brookwood Mall, and the improvements coming to the tunnel under 31 -- we will no longer be an island in Homewood.
The HCG is prepared to match up to $5,000 from our neighborhood for a total of $10,000 to the bridge funds. While most of the money has been secured from ALDOT, Homewood City, Mountain Brook City, State officials, and the Birmingham Track Club, we still have a short way to go, and we want to do our part to support this neighborhood-changing bridge.
If 100 residents contribute $50 each then we meet our goal!
To make your contribution, Venmo @hollywoodgardenclub (note: Bridge Donation) or mail/deliver your check (made payable to Hollywood Garden Club, memo: Bridge Donation) to: 100 Hollywood Blvd, Homewood, AL 35209
